Welcome
Jo Crump is a chartered human and animal Physiotherpist providing a consultation and treatment resource to veterinary professionals and owners across BANES, Wiltshire, Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.
Equine physiotherapy involves the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in horses. It combines movement analysis with knowledge of the anatomy of the musculo-skeletal system in order to identify potential problems.
Chartered Physiotherapists are highly trained in the skilled use of their hands to detect, assess and treat soft tissue injuries that may cause lameness or poor performance. They are also extensively trained in rehabilitation techniques and are able to offer guidance on the best way to successfully rehabilitate your horse.
Treatments are specific to the problems presenting on assessment but may include:
- Soft tissue massage
- Myofascial release
- Trigger point therapy
- Passive stretches
- Laser treatment
- Ultrasound therapy
- Muscle stimulation
- Biomagnetic pulse wave therapy
- Taping and proprioceptive rehabilitation
- Advice and home exercise programme
Acupuncture is a further treatment option offered to the human client but under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 can only be administered to the equine or canine client by a veterinarian.
